To consider a copyright permission request we require in writing by e-mail:

Please direct further questions regarding copyright to copyright@optica.org.
Permission to Reproduce Previously Published Material in a New Submission to an Optica Publishing Group Journal
When preparing a manuscript for submission, if any figures or other material (including text or tables) has been previously published, it is important that authors request permission from the copyright holder, usually the publisher, and add the required permission line to the caption exactly as specified by the copyright owner. Use of images or other material under an open license, including "free" images found on the Internet, often still requires attribution. Please check the source for applicable terms for reuse. Note that images of people or images owned or trademarked by other entities (including well-known logos or cartoon characters for example) will also require official written permission. Copies of all permission grants should be forwarded to the journal.
